South Karelia Municipal Education and Training Consortium

Saimaa Vocational College Sampo is maintained by the South Karelia Municipal Education and Training Consortium.

The Municipal Education and Training Consortium was founded by the municipalities in South Karelia in order to see that enough skilled workers are trained for the requirements of different professional fields in the local region.

There are nine members of the Municipal Consortium. They are Imatra, Lappeenranta, Lemi, Luumäki, Parikkala, Rautjärvi, Ruokolahti, Savitaipale and Taipalsaari.

In the Municipal Consortium the Consortium Government holds the highest right of decision. The Consortium Government approves the Municipal Education and Training Consortium’s budget, the operational objectives, the financial statement and the Municipal Education and Training Consortium’s rules. In addition, the Consortium Government elects the Consortium Board and Appeal Board.

The Municipal Education and Training Consortium is led by the Consortium Board, which oversees the Municipal Consortium’s benefits, approves contracts and uses the Municipal Consortium’s right of action. The Consortium Board formulates the budget and financial plan proposals and launches initiatives in order to develop education in the local region.

The Municipal Consortium is supervised by the Appeal Board and an auditor, in accordance to the municipal law and auditing regulations. In addition to a chair and a vice-chair, there are three members in the Appeal Board.
